02-03-23 News Release

On 01/26/23, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an individual staying in a tent or a make shift shelter in the woods at Huot Park west of Red Lake Falls. Red Lake County law enforcement located the individual and removed him from the park and provided him with some temporary housing assistance.

On the afternoon of 01/27/23, Connor Andrew Januszewski (21) of Crookston was cited for speeding on CR. #13 west of Red Lake Falls.

On the afternoon of 01/30/23, an individual reported their vehicle was damaged by debris thrown from a snow blower. They were advised this was a civil (non-criminal) matter and they were directed to contact the owner of the snow removal equipment to attempt to resolve the issue.

On the evening of 01/30/23, Red Lake County law enforcement, the Red Lake Falls Fire Department, and the Red Lake Falls Ambulance Service were dispatched to a house fire on Champagne Ave. in Red Lake Falls. All occupants of the home escaped without injury. The Red Lake Falls Fire Department extinguished the fire, but the home was severely damaged. An obstructed chimney for a wood burning stove was likely the cause. Assistance for the displaced family is being provided by the Salvation Army, the American Red Cross and other local organizations.

On the evening of 01/30/23, Red Lake County deputies responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence in Louisville Township. Jeffery Francis Bonham Jr. (35) of Red Lake Falls was arrested, taken to the jail in Crookston and was booked for misdemeanor domestic assault. On 02/02/23, an amended complaint was filed, enhancing the charge to a felony because of past convictions of domestic violence. He made his initial court appearance on 02/02/23 and remains in custody at the time of this release.

On the afternoon of 02/01/23, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received several 911 calls about a multi-vehicle crash on Hwy. #59 approximately 1 mile south of Plummer. Red Lake County deputies, the Minnesota State Patrol, Plummer Fire Department and the Thief River Falls Area Ambulance responded to the scene. Nobody involved in the crash sustained any significant injuries, but two vehicles were severely damaged and had to be towed from the scene. The Minnesota State Patrol is handling the crash investigation.

On the evening of 02/01/23, The Oklee Inn reported an individual was there and they were refusing to pay for their room. A Red Lake County deputy responded to the Oklee Inn and cited Jordan Chance Davidson (26) of Winger for misdemeanor defrauding an innkeeper. Mr. Davidson was also removed from the property.

On the afternoon of 02/02/23, Juston Joe Anderson (41) of Red Lake Falls came to the Sheriff’s Office to turn himself in because he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. Mr. Anderson posted $1,000 cash bond to satisfy the warrant. He was released from custody and his next court appearance was scheduled for 02/15/23.

On the afternoon of 02/02/23, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a School Bus stop-arm violation that occurred in the city of Red Lake Falls. That report remains under investigation.

On the afternoon of 02/02/23, Cody Robert Lussier (26) of Oklee was cited for misdemeanor no valid driver’s license and no proof of current motor vehicle insurance on 2nd Ave. in Oklee.

On the afternoon of 02/02/23, Mercedes Lee Knopp (18) of Crookston was cited for speeding on CR. #11 west of Red Lake Falls.

On the evening of 02/02/23, Blake Allen Koshenina (22) of Red Lake Falls was cited for speeding on CR. #11 west of Red Lake Falls.

On the evening of 02/02/23, Xavier Joseph Persson (18) of Crookston was cited for speeding on CR. #11 west of Red Lake Falls.
