Felony charge filed
A Thief River Falls man now faces a felony charge in Red Lake County.
Court records list Matthew Peter Stengrim, 32, as the defendant.
He was formally charged on January 9, 2026.
The charge involves sending sexual material to a child by electronic message.
The criminal complaint says the alleged conduct happened in July 2025.
A judge issued an arrest warrant on January 9.
Stengrim was arrested in Pennington County on January 10, 2026.
Authorities say he also has pending cases in Pennington County.
He remains in custody at the jail in Thief River Falls.
He is expected to transfer to Red Lake County after those matters end.
Parking tickets in Red Lake Falls
In Red Lake Falls, officers issued winter parking tickets on Main Avenue.
Two vehicles were cited early on January 10.
Two more vehicles were cited early on January 14.

In Plummer, a resident reported a parked semi and trailer on January 11.
The report said the rig sat on Central Avenue for a long time.
A deputy spoke with the owner.
The owner said he had stopped home briefly.
He agreed to move the semi.
In Oklee, a checkbook was found on Main Street on January 12.
It was turned in to the Sheriff’s Office.
The owner was notified.
On January 13, a Red Lake Falls resident reported problems with an ex.
A deputy spoke with the caller.
The incident was documented.
The review is ongoing.
On January 15, a vehicle went into a ditch on Highway 59 south of Brooks.
A deputy helped with traffic control.
The vehicle was pulled out safely.
Also on January 15, a Red Lake Falls resident reported harassing text messages.
The report was documented.
The caller was advised on options.
