On the afternoon of 05/26/22, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of illegal burning in Red Lake Falls township. The fire was attended and contained. The property owner was advised to contact the Sheriff’s Office prior to burning in the future to comply with the County’s Open Burning Ordinance.

On the evening of 05/26/22, a Red Lake County deputy discovered a vehicle in the ditch at the intersection of CR. #8 and CR. #7 in Lambert township. The vehicle was unoccupied, but the investigation into the incident revealed that Landon John Barnett (35) of Brooks was driving the vehicle when it went off of the roadway at a T-Intersection. It was also discovered there were children in the vehicle at the time of the crash, but fortunately, no injuries were reported. Mr. Barnett was cited for misdemeanor driving after revocation and failure to drive with due care.

On the afternoon of 05/27/22, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of possible trespassing in Red Lake Falls township. This matter involved neighbors who share a property line and the situation has been mediated and resolved.

On the evening of 05/27/22, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a tractor, pulling a cultivator, had broken down, causing a traffic hazard on CR. #1 east of Plummer. A Red Lake County deputy responded and provided traffic control assistance until it could be towed from the roadway.

On the afternoon of 05/28/22, Randy Joe Munson (26) of Miami, OK was cited for speeding on Hwy. #59 south of Brooks.

On the afternoon of 05/29/22, an individual reported their cellphone was stolen while they were in the Corner Bar in Plummer the previous evening. That report remains under investigation.

On the evening of 05/29/22, Wesley Allan Selby (36) of Grand Lake, CO was cited for speeding on CR. #5 in Oklee.

On the evening of 05/29/22, Aaron Michael Hyland (45) of Goodridge was cited for speeding on CR. #5 in Oklee.

On 05/30/22, a Red Lake Falls resident reported they had been threatened by another individual. That report is still under investigation.

On the evening of 05/31/22, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report that an individual, with outstanding arrest warrants, was currently at a Red Lake Falls residence. Investigation revealed the suspect had two active felony warrants from Clay County. John James Nogowski (34) of Fargo was arrested, taken to the jail in Crookston, and booked on the warrants. He will be released to Clay County authorities.

On the morning of 06/01/22, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of illegal dumping in the city of Brooks. That report remains under investigation.

On the evening of 06/01/22, an individual in Oklee reported that a loose dog had entered their yard and chased their cat into a tree. A deputy responded to gather information about the incident and the resident was injured because the frightened cat had scratched them. They were unable to get the cat out of the tree that evening. This incident is still under investigation. On the morning of 06/02/22, the cat was still in the tree, so the owner was advised to contact a local utility service that would have the required equipment to provide assistance.
