On the afternoon of 08/12/22, Red Lake County law enforcement officers arrested Wayne Michael Schaumburg (37) of Bagley, in the city of Brooks. Polk County held an active felony warrant for his arrest. He was also cited for misdemeanor theft, for allegedly stealing money from Carol’s Cozy Bar while he was employed there in July of 2022. Additionally, he was cited for misdemeanor driving after cancellation and no proof of current motor vehicle insurance. Mr. Schaumburg was turned over to Polk County authorities and he will be summonsed to appear in Court in Red Lake Falls to face the three misdemeanor charges at a later date.

On the morning of 08/13/22, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a domestic disturbance at a residence in River Township. The involved parties were counseled and the situation was mediated without any arrests or citations.
On the evening of 08/13/22, a Red Lake County deputy stopped a vehicle for speeding on CR. #13 west of Red Lake Falls. It was discovered the occupants of the vehicle had been consuming alcohol and four out of the five individuals were under the age of 21. The driver, Kassidy Kristine Logsdon (20) of Grand Forks was cited for misdemeanor minor consumption driver. Three other passengers, Shaina Elizabeth Stromquist (19) of Crookston, Graham Ian Widdifield (19) of Grand Forks, and Danie Leigh Bernard (20) of Shelly, MN were all cited for misdemeanor minor consumption of alcohol. They were transported back to the Sheriff’s Office in Red Lake Falls and released to a sober party.
On the evening of 08/13/22, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of someone lighting off fireworks in the city of Red Lake Falls. A Red Lake County deputy responded, located the suspects, counseled them about the illegal activity and they agreed to stop.
On the evening of 08/14/22, Irelen Marie Chase (23) of Fargo was cited for speeding on Main Ave. in Red Lake Falls.
On the afternoon of 08/15/22, the Plummer School reported a possible theft. They reported some items that had been left outside of the building had been taken. Red Lake County law enforcement located the suspects and they thought the items were trash because they were placed near the dumpster. They agreed to return the items to the school and the situation was resolved.
On the afternoon of 08/16/22, Amari Luther Warren (19) of Thief River Falls was cited for speeding on Hwy. #59 in Plummer.
On the afternoon of 08/17/22, Leaann Salem (55) of Crookston was cited for speeding on Hwy. #92 east of Terrebonne.
On the evening of 08/17/22, a Red Lake County deputy arrested Chaz Nathaniel Sistad (31) of Brooks. Red Lake County held an active gross misdemeanor warrant for his arrest. Mr. Sistad was taken to the jail in Crookston. He posted a $200 cash bond to satisfy the warrant and he was released from custody.

On the morning of 08/18/22, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office reported they had arrested Maurice Anthony Sele (20) of Red Lake Falls. Red Lake County held an active misdemeanor warrant for his arrest. Mr. Sele posted a $100 cash bond to satisfy the warrant and he was released from custody. His next court date was scheduled for 08/31/22 in Red Lake Falls.

On the afternoon of 08/18/22, two adult individuals came to the Sheriff’s Office and requested assistance in resolving a domestic dispute they were having. A Red Lake County deputy counseled, mediated, and assisted them with an exchange of property at their Red Lake Falls residence. Once of the individuals left their shared residence and the matter was resolved without citations or arrests.
On the evening of 08/18/22, Red Lake County deputies responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at a Garnes Township residence. Kari Marie Kahlstorf (32) of Plummer was arrested, and taken to the jail in Crookston and she was booked for misdemeanor domestic assault. Three minor children were also removed from the home, by law enforcement and they were placed in the care of a relative. Ms. Kahlstorf appeared in Court in Crookston on 08/19/22 and she was released on her promise to abide by court-ordered conditions. Her next hearing was scheduled for 08/31/22 in Red Lake Falls.

On the evening of 08/19/22, Kimberly Ann Craig (37) of Fosston was cited for speeding on CR. #7 west of Hwy. #92.
In the early morning hours of 08/20/22, Red Lake County law enforcement and the Oklee Ambulance were dispatched to TJ’s Tavern in Oklee to attend to an individual who was injured in a scuffle. Both of the involved parties, Nathaniel Scott Stene (31) of Waterloo, NB, and Daniel Robert Wold (32) of Oklee were cited for misdemeanor disorderly conduct. Mr. Wold was transported to the Sanford ER in Thief River Falls to be treated for his injuries.
On the evening of 08/20/22, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a bear in a tree at a residence in the city of Oklee. A Red Lake County deputy responded and advised onlookers to leave the area and give the bear some space and time to leave the area on its own.
In the early morning hours of 08/21/22, Red Lake County deputies responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence in the city of Red Lake Falls. The involved parties were counseled and the situation was mediated.
On the afternoon of 08/21/22, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report claiming that some children had been physically abused. That report remains under investigation.
On the afternoon of 08/21/22, a juvenile male from Warroad was cited for speeding on CR. #7 west of Hwy. #92.
On the afternoon of 08/21/22, Kyle David Kuss (38) of Ham Lake, MN was cited for speeding on CR. #5 north of Oklee.
On the afternoon of 08/21/22, a Red Lake County deputy stopped a vehicle on CR. #13 east of Red Lake Falls for erratic driving conduct. Further investigation during the traffic stop revealed the driver possessed illegal controlled substances and showed signs of being under the influence of methamphetamine. George Lynn Lowrey (27) of Grand Forks was arrested, taken to the jail in Crookston, and booked for felony possession of an illegal controlled substance and misdemeanor DUI. On 08/24/22, Mr. Lowrey posted bail and was released from custody.

On the evening of 08/21/22, the Dollar General store in Red Lake Falls reported they caught an individual attempting to shoplift from their store. No criminal charges were filed, but the individual was “trespassed” from their premises.
In the early morning hours of 08/22/22, Red Lake County deputies responded to a reported domestic disturbance at a Red Lake Falls residence. Brett Lee Anderson (42) of Red Lake Falls was arrested, taken to the jail in Crookston, and booked for misdemeanor domestic assault. Mr. Anderson appeared in Court in Crookston on 08/23/22 and was released from custody. The Court ordered that he have no contact with the victim as a condition of his release.

On the afternoon of 08/22/22, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report from a Lambert Township resident claiming a bear was harassing their livestock. A Red Lake County deputy conferred with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and the landowner was advised to dispatch the nuisance bear if they felt it was endangering their domestic animals.
On the afternoon of 08/22/22, Voyageur’s View reported a drunk driver had just left the campground and was headed into town. A few minutes later, Eagle Square reported intoxicated individuals were in their store causing problems. A Red Lake County deputy located the suspect vehicle and stopped it on Hwy. #32 south of Red Lake Falls. Investigation revealed the driver had consumed alcohol, but he was not legally intoxicated. However, his driver’s license was suspended. Edward Marques Reyes (35) of Grand Forks was cited for misdemeanor driving after suspension.
On the evening of 08/24/22, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report that some individuals may be at a Red Lake Falls residence without permission. When deputies arrived, the house was unoccupied, but there was evidence that someone may have been there earlier. The report remains under investigation.
