On 10/08/21, a formal criminal complaint was filed, charging Gregory Marvin Benson (72) of Oklee with misdemeanor disorderly conduct. The criminal complaint alleges Mr. Benson engaged in conduct to provoke an assault or breach of the peace, on Main St. in the city of Oklee, on the afternoon of 09/17/21. Mr. Benson will be summonsed to appear in Court in Red Lake Falls later this month.
On 10/08/21, a formal criminal complaint was filed, charging Eddie Lyle Kilbourn (63) of Oklee with misdemeanor fleeing a peace officer and obstructing. The criminal complaint alleges Mr. Kilbourn attempted to elude and obstruct a Red Lake County deputy who had probable cause to arrest him on 08/22/21. Mr. Kilbourn was arrested that evening but was later released so he could be treated at a medical facility. Mr. Kilbourn will be summonsed to appear in Court in Red Lake Falls in October of 2021.
On the afternoon of 10/08/21, Red Lake County law enforcement responded to a traffic collision on Main Ave., near Bottineau Ave., in Red Lake Falls. Both vehicles were damaged but there were no substantial injuries reported by either driver.
On the evening of 10/09/21, Brian Gregory Sandahl (51) of Minnetonka was cited for speeding on Main Ave. in Red Lake Falls.
On the evening of 10/09/21, Carina Guadalupe Martinez (23) of Pelican Rapids was cited for speeding on Main Ave. in Red Lake Falls.
In the early morning hours of 10/10/21, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance in locating a suspect in Oklee. They claimed to have probable cause to arrest the individual for a misdemeanor domestic assault that occurred in Crookston. Red Lake County deputies located Christopher John Moran (31) of Oklee at his residence. He was arrested and turned over to Polk County authorities.
On the evening of 10/10/21, the Cozy Bar in Brooks contacted the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office because some individuals were acting unruly in the bar. Red Lake County deputies responded and were able to remove the individuals that were causing the disruption. The matter remains under investigation.
On the afternoon of 10/11/21, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a possible sexual assault that occurred in Red Lake Falls. That report remains under investigation.
On the evening of 10/11/21, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a harassment/restraining order violation that occurred in Oklee. That report is still under investigation.
On the morning of 10/12/21, the Oklee Ambulance and Red Lake County law enforcement were dispatched to a traffic collision at Toupin St. and 3rd Ave. in Oklee. Both vehicles sustained damage, but there were no injuries. A juvenile female from Oklee was cited for failure to yield a sign.
On 10/12/21, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a theft from a residence in Oklee. That case remains under investigation.
On the evening of 10/12/21, a Red Lake Falls resident reported their vehicle had been vandalized. That report is still under investigation.
On the morning of 10/13/21, Red Lake County law enforcement, Red Lake Falls Ambulance and Red Lake Falls Fire Department were all dispatched to a single-vehicle crash, near the intersection of CR. #11 and 7th St. SW. The vehicle had left the roadway and crashed into a tree. The driver of that vehicle was transported to the Sanford ER in Thief River Falls, by the Red Lake Falls Ambulance, to be treated for minor injuries.
On the evening of 10/13/21, Breydon Lee Dembiczak (18) of Crookston was cited for an instructional permit violation of his driver’s license on Main Ave. in Red Lake Falls.
On the evening of 10/14/21, a Red Lake County deputy stopped a vehicle on Hwy. #92 in Brooks because its registration sticker had been tampered with. The driver and owner of the vehicle was Kimberly Joyce Auginash (37) of Brooks. Investigation at the stop revealed that Ms. Auginash had been consuming alcohol. That violated the conditions of her release from other pending criminal charges. She was arrested for that violation. An open alcohol container and illegal controlled substances were also discovered inside of her vehicle. During this traffic stop, Leroy Joseph Mercil (73) of Brooks arrived at the scene. He disobeyed the deputy’s commands and made several attempts to obstruct the investigation. Mr. Mercil was arrested for misdemeanor obstructing. He was released from custody later that same evening and will be summonsed to court in Red Lake Falls to face that charge at a later date. Ms. Auginash was taken to the jail in Crookston and booked for gross misdemeanor attempt to evade tax, gross misdemeanor possession of illegal controlled substances, misdemeanor open bottle, and contempt of court. She is still in custody at the time of this release.
