On the afternoon of 04/09/21, the Plummer School reported a fight was going on outside of their school building. Red Lake County law enforcement officers responded to the scene. The involved parties had been separated by school staff prior to law enforcement’s arrival. No serious injuries were reported and the matter is still under investigation.

On the afternoon of 04/09/21, Wright’s Consignment reported they had a couple of people inside their store and they suspected they may be attempting to steal items. Red Lake County deputies responded and investigated the report. The suspects were identified and it was determined that they had not yet committed any crimes, but they were escorted out of the store and “trespassed” from the property.

On the afternoon of 04/11/21, Brenden James Lawrence Davis (18) of Thief River Falls was cited for speeding on Hwy. #32 on the north end of the Red Lake Falls.

On the evening of 04/12/21, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a vehicle, parked along 5th St. SW, that was in violation of the city of Red Lake Falls’ parking ordinance. The vehicle had expired registration and the current owner of the vehicle could not be found. On the morning of 04/13/21, the vehicle was towed from the scene. Later that day, the owner of the vehicle did contact the Sheriff’s Office and they were directed to speak with the towing company to regain possession of their vehicle.

On the evening of 04/13/21, John Scott Malwitz (19) of Red Lake Falls was cited for illegal exhaust on CR. #11 west of Red Lake Falls.

On 04/14/21, a formal criminal complaint was filed, charging Kristine Lynn Bouvette (44) of East Grand Forks with a gross misdemeanor giving a peace officer the name and date of birth of another. She was also charged with trespassing, possession of a small amount of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Red Lake County law enforcement encountered Ms. Bouvette on 03/25/21 at a property in Gervais Township. The follow-up to that investigation revealed that she had used her sister’s identification during that interaction with law enforcement, in an attempt to avoid criminal charges. Ms. Bouvette also has an active warrant for her arrest in Grand Forks County, ND. She will be summonsed to appear in Court in Red Lake Falls later this month. The criminal charges originally filed against her sister have been dismissed.

On the afternoon of 04/14/21, the Red Lake Falls Ambulance, the Red Lake Falls Fire Department, and Red Lake County deputies were dispatched to a two-vehicle crash near the intersection of CR. #13 and 180th Ave. SW. Janet Marie Wiskow (51) of Red Lake Falls was eastbound on Cr. #13 in a Ford Edge, a juvenile male from Red Lake Falls was southbound on 180th Ave. SW in a Pontiac Grand Am. The Pontiac failed to yield and struck the eastbound Ford in the driver’s side. Ms. Wiskow was transported to the Riverview ER in Crookston by the Red Lake Falls Ambulance. Both vehicles were “totaled” and the driver of the Pontiac will be cited for failure to yield.

This past week the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office has received several reports of citizens seeing a bear and bear tracks on the north side of Red Lake Falls. One of the reports indicated that a resident’s bird feeder was destroyed by the animal.
