Austin, Mower County (trfnews.i234.me) – A woman was injured in a rear-end collision involving a car and a semi on Highway 218 in Austin Tuesday afternoon, June 10, 2025.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the 2008 Kia Rio and a 2021 Mack Pinnacle semi were both southbound on Highway 218 near 18th Avenue NW when the crash occurred at approximately 3:34 p.m. The semi rear-ended the Kia.
The driver of the Kia, 38-year-old Marcelina Aguilarmendoza of Austin, MN, was transported to the Mayo Clinic with non-life-threatening injuries. Her airbags deployed, and she was wearing a seat belt. Alcohol was not a factor.
The semi driver, 52-year-old Jason Michael Mattes of Sleepy Eye, MN, was uninjured.
The Austin Police Department and Mayo Ambulance responded to the scene.
