Ramsey County (trfnews.i234.me) – A Devils Lake man has been charged with multiple sex-related crimes involving a minor after a June incident.
According to court documents, Timothy Joseph McKay III is accused of recording himself engaging in sexual activity with a 16-year-old on June 25, 2025.
Investigators say McKay filmed the encounter and kept the video, which later became part of the criminal case against him. The charges include felony use of a minor in a sexual performance, felony possession of prohibited materials, and a misdemeanor charge of corruption of a minor.
Court filings show that the alleged acts were discovered during the course of an ongoing investigation. Law enforcement obtained the video evidence, which prosecutors say clearly documents the encounter.
If convicted, McKay faces the possibility of significant prison time due to the seriousness of the felony charges. North Dakota law treats sexual exploitation of minors as one of the most serious offenses, with mandatory sentencing guidelines in many cases.
McKay has a prior criminal history and is shown in an earlier booking photo provided in court records. He is currently being held as the case moves forward in Ramsey County District Court.
Authorities have not released additional details about the investigation, but stress that protecting children from exploitation remains a top priority for law enforcement.
