Ramsey County: Devils Lake Man Charged After Graffiti Attack

RAMSEY COUNTY (trfnews.i234.me) — A Devils Lake man is facing multiple felony charges after a confrontation over graffiti turned violent over the weekend.

According to court documents, 34-year-old Shawn E. Lewis of Devils Lake was caught spray-painting graffiti along the 300 block of College Drive. When a nearby resident confronted him, the situation quickly escalated.

Investigators say Lewis struck the victim in the face with a spray can before pulling out a knife and threatening to kill the resident. The victim was able to restrain Lewis on the ground until police arrived and took him into custody.

Lewis has now been charged with three felony counts: aggravated assault, terrorizing, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Officers say drug-related items were found in his possession at the time of arrest.

The Devils Lake Police Department responded to the incident and secured the scene. The victim was treated for minor injuries and released. Authorities have not released additional information on the motive behind the graffiti or whether it was gang-related.

Lewis remains in custody at the Ramsey County Jail pending his first court appearance. The case has been forwarded to the Ramsey County State’s Attorney’s Office for formal prosecution.
