RAMSEY COUNTY (trfnews.i234.me) — Police in St. Paul say a Johnson High School student was arrested Tuesday after bringing a gun to campus. The incident happened on the first day of school.

Authorities say school staff intervened quickly, apprehending the student and securing the firearm before officers arrived. The swift action prevented any injuries or immediate danger.

Police reported that the student was booked into juvenile detention on suspicion of possessing a firearm. No other students or staff were harmed during the incident.

In a message to families, Johnson principal Jamil Payton acknowledged the concern such an event can cause. “I understand that news can be extremely upsetting, especially on the first day of school,” Payton said. “At the same time, I want to call out that our safety protocols worked as intended.”

Officials have not released additional details about the student due to juvenile protections. The case is now under review by Ramsey County authorities.
