Jeffrey “JV” Vandergrift was a DJ who hosted the Dog House radio show since 1993.

Radio career

Vandergrift began co-hosting the Dog House in 1993 alongside Dan Lay, going as JV and Elvis. The show was based out of a variety of radio markets over the years, including New York City; San Jose, California; and San Francisco. The show was cancelled in 2008 after a controversy in New York City when Vandergrift and Lay placed a prank phone call to a Chinese restaurant that angered some listeners with its racial stereotypes. In later years, Vandergrift and Lay restarted the Dog House as a podcast. Vandergrift also hosted the JV Show alongside his wife, Natasha Yi. In the past year, Vandergrift had shared with his listeners details of his struggles with Lyme disease. He had just spoken out about the disease’s effects on his physical and mental health on the day he was reported missing.
