GRAND FORKS — A disturbing case of child abuse has come to light in Grand Forks, where a 39-year-old man has been charged with two Class A felony counts of gross sexual imposition. Allen Timothy Dunn faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted of either count.

According to an affidavit of probable cause filed in the case, Dunn allegedly initiated unwanted and invasive contact with a young girl on multiple occasions between 2011 and 2013. The first incident occurred when he was a volunteer at Grace Baptist Church, where he asked a 4-year-old girl for help in the restroom despite her protests.

Over time, Dunn became friends with the girl’s family and even hosted them at his home for a Super Bowl gathering on February 3, 2013. During this visit, he allegedly committed the same act to the now-6-year-old child while her parents were out running errands.

An investigation began in July of this year after the girl disclosed these incidents to authorities. Dunn was interviewed by law enforcement on August 21 and reportedly admitted to seeing the girl enter the bathroom that night and entering with her “while experiencing sexual excitement.”

Dunn’s preliminary hearing and arraignment are scheduled for November 18.
