Ponsford, Minnesota (trfnews.i234.me) – A violent domestic incident in Ponsford has led to the felony conviction of Delarey Allen Basswood, 30, who was sentenced in Becker County District Court for felony domestic assault after attacking a woman with a baseball bat.

According to court documents, deputies were called to a residence on November 1, 2024, after reports of a fight and stabbing. Basswood, following an argument involving his girlfriend and another woman, reportedly threatened to “bat her up”, retrieved a bat, and struck the woman multiple times.

He fled but was later located via drone and arrested. The victim sustained large, swollen injuries to her arm and neck. Basswood has three prior domestic violence convictions, including an April 2024 felony order violation.

On June 25, Judge Michael Fritz sentenced Basswood to 21 months in prison, stayed for five years, and 30 days in jail (with four days’ credit). He’s also on supervised probation with restrictions and mandatory domestic violence treatment.
