Justice Edward Desjarlait, 27, has been sentenced for an attempted armed robbery within the Red Lake Indian Reservation. According to court documents, on September 24, 2022, Desjarlait attempted to rob a residence by carrying an unloaded rifle. He knocked on the front door, raised the rifle, and demanded, “Give me all of your [expletive].” When he tried to open the storm door to enter the house, he found it locked and fled without taking anything.
Desjarlait pleaded guilty to one count of attempted robbery in February. Last week, he was sentenced to 18 months in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release, and ordered to pay $500 in restitution.
