Polk County (trfnews.i234.me) — A Grand Forks man with an extensive criminal history is facing multiple new charges in Minnesota after being caught with methamphetamine and a 9mm bullet near a park, violating his previous release terms.
On July 9, 2025, 34-year-old Daniel Isaac Olson was meeting with his pre-trial agent in East Grand Forks when he admitted to using meth just days earlier. Olson had previously been released on bail in a domestic assault case with strict conditions—no drugs, no weapons, and random searches.
While at the TCCC office, Olson provided a urine sample that tested positive for meth and amphetamine. A subsequent search of his Lincoln Navigator—parked within 300 feet of Al LaFave Park—revealed a backpack with meth, prescription drugs, and a 9mm bullet.
This triggered three new charges:
-
Felony drug possession in a park zone
-
Felon in possession of ammunition
-
Second-degree DWI (controlled substance)
Olson’s criminal history includes felony theft, multiple drug crimes, and previous DWI offenses. Authorities confirmed he admitted to using meth several times a week and was well aware of the park zone proximity.
