Crookston, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – A Crookston woman is facing multiple felony charges after a disturbing incident that allegedly involved assaulting a man and a baby, and possessing methamphetamine near a school.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Polk County District Court, Angela Louise Canales, 32, is charged with:

  1. Felony Domestic Assault (repeat offense)

  2. Third Degree Assault – Victim Under Age 4

  3. Third Degree Drug Possession in a Prohibited Zone (near Highland School)

On June 2, 2025, Crookston Police responded to a domestic call where a baby was reportedly dropped and a male victim was bleeding. Officers arrived to find R.E. holding the baby, E.E., both injured. Canales had allegedly clawed R.E.’s face and thrown the child.

Canales fled to a nearby apartment and asked to be hidden from police. Officers located her and found methamphetamine and a pipe in her residence. She later admitted to using meth and cocaine, and tested positive for both.

Canales is on probation for a previous felony assault and could face an aggravated sentence due to prior convictions and the presence of a child during the assault.
