Polk County (https://trfnews.i234.me) – A Crookston man is now facing serious criminal charges after a brutal and violent attack outside a local bar that left a victim assaulted and robbed.

According to court records, 33-year-old Jesus Mario Moreno of Crookston has been charged in Polk County District Court with felony Simple Robbery – Aid and Abet and misdemeanor 5th Degree Assault following an incident that occurred in the early hours of September 6, 2022.

Police say the victim, identified only by the initials J.K., reported being attacked outside Crooks Club on Main Street in Crookston. J.K. claimed he was lured outside by Moreno, who then struck him multiple times, including a powerful body slam that drove his head into the pavement. J.K.’s phone and wallet fell to the ground during the assault.

The incident was captured on surveillance video, which clearly shows Moreno slapping J.K. twice, followed by a vicious takedown. Police say J.K. appeared non-confrontational throughout the encounter and even attempted to de-escalate the situation. Following the assault, Moreno’s associate, Fidencio Longoria III, is seen picking up J.K.’s wallet, removing items, and pocketing them.

When interviewed later by Crookston police, Moreno claimed he had no memory of the event due to intoxication. Longoria confirmed to officers that Moreno initiated the physical altercation and admitted to picking up the wallet but denied intent to steal.

Both men are accused of working together to unlawfully take personal property through force and intimidation. If convicted, Moreno faces up to 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.

A warrant has been issued for Moreno’s arrest.
