CROOKSTON, MN (trfnews.i234.me) — A child riding a bicycle was struck by a vehicle on the north side of Crookston Friday evening, prompting an emergency response from local authorities.
The incident occurred near the intersection of Fiser Avenue and Somefield Drive. According to initial reports, a female driver hit the child, who was reportedly up and walking after the collision. Emergency services transported the child to a local hospital for evaluation.
A witness at the scene indicated that the child appeared to be conscious and mobile following the accident. Further details about the child’s condition and the circumstances leading to the incident have not been released.
This event follows a previous incident in Crookston where a 10-year-old girl was severely injured after being struck by a semi-truck while riding her bicycle. The driver, identified as 73-year-old Duane Otto Schouveiller of Mahnomen, was involved in that case, which remains under investigation by the Crookston Police Department and the Minnesota State Patrol.
In that earlier incident, the child was dragged more than a block and suffered life-threatening injuries, including the loss of her right leg. She has since become an inspiration to many, sharing her story to encourage others facing adversity.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the most recent accident on Fiser Avenue. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
