Polk County ( trfnews.i234.me ) – A Crookston man is facing multiple charges following a late-night traffic stop.

According to court documents, 21-year-old Juanito Miguel Alfrido was stopped in Crookston after police observed an expired temporary Texas plate. Officers noted Alfrido showed signs of impairment, including red eyes and slurred speech. He admitted to being “kinda high.”

Field sobriety tests were conducted. Reports state Alfrido laughed during testing and was unable to complete most tasks. A breath test allegedly showed a 0.09 blood alcohol concentration. A later urine test also came back positive for THC.

Prosecutors charged Alfrido in Polk County District Court with third-degree driving while impaired. The charge alleges he was under the influence of both alcohol and cannabis. He also faces a misdemeanor charge for driving without insurance.

Records show Alfrido has previous convictions for driving after revocation, no insurance, and a prior DWI in 2024. Court documents note that additional charges remain pending from earlier cases.

If convicted, Alfrido faces penalties including up to 90 days in jail and fines. His first appearance in Polk County District Court is pending.
