Accident, no insurance and passing – unsafe driving left of roadway
On Feb. 26 at 7:48 p.m., the sheriff’s office received a report of an accident at the intersection of Highway 32 and Oak Grove Drive. At the time of the accident, Patric John Haswell, 26, Atwater, Ohio, was driving a 1993 Chevy van, and Timothy Allen Turbessi, 36, Athens, Tenn., was driving a Toyota Tacoma. Both were traveling southbound on Highway 32 with Haswell traveling behind Turbessi. Turbessi signaled his intention to turn left onto Oak Grove Drive. Haswell attempted to pass Turbessi on the left side, and the vehicles collided. No injuries were reported. Turbessi has been cited for no insurance. Haswell has been cited for passing – unsafe driving left of roadway.
Possession of a small amount of marijuana
On Feb. 26 at 11:16 p.m., police performed a traffic stop in the 1500 block of Hwy. 32 S. A 17-year-old Thief River Falls female has charges pending for possession of a small amount of marijuana.
On Feb. 27 at 4:55 p.m., police received a report of an accident at the intersection of 12th Street and Knight Avenue. At the time of the accident, Carol M. Wappula was driving a 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe eastbound on 12th Street. According to the report, she was unable to stop in time due to the icy conditions. Her vehicle then collided with a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Wesley E. McCloud of Thief River Falls. McCloud was driving northbound on Knight Avenue at the time. No injuries were reported.
Driving while impaired
On Feb. 28 at 12 a.m., police performed a traffic stop near the intersection of Third Street and Markley Avenue. Alex Carter Ducker, 25, Hominy, Okla., has been cited for DWI. Ducker was arrested and later released when he was sober.
