Plummer, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – Chad Dean Stanford, 45, of Plummer, has been charged with three felony counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct after allegedly sexually abusing a boy for nearly three years. The charges were filed in Red Lake County District Court on August 2.

According to the complaint, the abuse came to light following a May 20 report from a nurse practitioner, who stated that Stanford had sought a referral to a psychologist, revealing that he had awoken to a boy humping him. Stanford admitted to a Sanford Behavioral Health nurse that what began as a one-time incident in August 2021 turned into an ongoing situation.

The 12-year-old boy, who was a close family friend, later confided to a Red Lake County social worker that the abuse included inappropriate touching and had occurred for about two years, mostly at Stanford’s apartment. The boy stated that the abuse stopped two or three months ago, but Stanford had warned him not to tell anyone.

Stanford allegedly confessed to the Red Lake County investigator that the sexual contact occurred around 100 to 150 times, with the most recent incident in April 2024. He believed that continuing the contact would prevent the boy from engaging in such behavior with others, even though he acknowledged it was wrong.
