Pine Point Man Charged After Brutal Baseball Bat Attack on Brother

Pine Point (trfnews.i234.me) — Anthony Todd Stewart, 54, of Detroit Lakes, has been charged in Becker County District Court with felony second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon after a violent family altercation.

According to the criminal complaint, on March 12 at 9:41 p.m., a White Earth police officer responded to a Pine Point residence where Stewart allegedly assaulted his brother with a metal baseball bat. The victim told police Stewart struck him seven to eight times, causing significant injuries, including broken teeth, cuts inside his mouth, swelling, and bruising.

Stewart, who smelled of alcohol, refused to cooperate further with officers and declined a breath test. He was transported to the Becker County Jail after receiving medical clearance.

Stewart appeared in court on March 14 before Judge Michelle W. Lawson. Bail was set at $15,000 without conditions, $7,500 with conditions, or $750 cash with conditions. An omnibus hearing is scheduled for April 7.
