Snowplows and winter traffic
Snowplows can move more slowly than other traffic. Drivers often brake quickly when they reach a plow.
Safety experts suggest leaving more space in winter. Extra distance helps reduce rear-end crashes.
Minnesota winter driving tips are available from the Minnesota Office of Traffic Safety.
National driving guidance is also available from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
