Pennington County (trfnews.i234.me) – A Grafton, North Dakota, man is facing multiple felony charges following a domestic incident in Pennington County where he allegedly threatened children and assaulted his girlfriend.

According to court documents, 48-year-old Billy Joe Deane Stroh has been charged with three felony counts of threats of violence after deputies responded to a report along 250th Avenue Northeast on July 21, 2025.

The complaint states a boy told deputies Stroh chased him and his friends, threatened to hang them from a tree, and said he would kill the boy’s father. Another boy alleged that Stroh became upset over a spilled item and later threatened to assault him, his father, and his brother. The children reportedly hid in a ditch to avoid Stroh, but he allegedly located them and grabbed one by the arm.

The incident reportedly escalated when Stroh’s girlfriend tried to intervene, leading to a physical altercation between the two. A third child on the property told deputies he believed Stroh was hitting his mother, as he heard her yelling during the confrontation.

Stroh allegedly admitted to deputies he was angry with the children and had closed a camper door, pretending to fight with his girlfriend. Court records show Stroh has a prior 2022 conviction for violating a protection order in Polk County.

Stroh was arrested and booked on three felony threats of violence charges.
