Pennington County (trfnews.i234.me) — A Redby man now faces a gross misdemeanor charge in Pennington County after a traffic stop on November 1, 2025.

According to a criminal complaint, Cody Aloysius Thunder, 36, is charged with driving after cancellation that was allegedly tied to public safety concerns.

The complaint says the stop happened at about 2:50 p.m. on Center Street East near 330th Avenue Northeast. Court records state a white Chevrolet Impala was seen traveling 71 miles per hour in a 60-mile zone.

What the complaint says

According to the complaint, the driver told law enforcement that he did not have a driver’s license. The complaint also says he did not have insurance.

Authorities identified the driver as Cody Aloysius Thunder of Redby. Court records say his driving status was listed as cancelled.

The complaint states that the cancellation was considered inimical to public safety. Under Minnesota law, that charge can be treated as a gross misdemeanor.

The complaint also says a warrant from Beltrami County was found and later confirmed. After that, Thunder was arrested and taken to the Pennington County Jail.

A passenger remained at the scene. The complaint says another driver was coming for the vehicle. Authorities then moved the car farther onto the shoulder.

Case moves through court

The case was filed in Pennington County District Court. Public case information may also be viewed through Minnesota Court Records Online.

The charge listed in the complaint is tied to Minnesota Statute 171.24. The complaint lists a maximum penalty of 364 days in jail, a $3,000 fine, or both.

Thunder has been charged, but not convicted. The complaint contains allegations that must still be proven in court.

This case remains pending in the Minnesota court system.
