Pennington County (trfnews.i234.me) — On Sept. 10, the sheriff’s office assisted in locating a suspected intoxicated driver in Thief River Falls.

According to the complaint, a report indicated that the driver had allegedly been drinking all day and was still behind the wheel. Deputies later identified the driver as 26-year-old Marley Josephine Seglem of Thief River Falls.

A deputy observed the vehicle traveling along Horace Avenue North before it pulled into the parking lot of Falls Liquor. When informed about the traffic stop, Seglem reportedly told the deputy to “take her in.” She repeated the statement when the deputy explained she appeared impaired.

Seglem allegedly admitted to drinking at least a pint of beer. She failed field sobriety tests and provided a preliminary breath test result of 0.269 Blood Alcohol Content. Two later DMT tests each recorded a BAC of 0.30, nearly four times the legal limit of 0.08 in Minnesota.

Authorities transported Seglem to Sanford Medical Center for medical clearance before booking her into jail. She is now charged with third-degree DWI — 0.16 or greater.

Driving while intoxicated is a serious offense in Minnesota. Penalties may include fines, license suspension, mandatory treatment, and possible jail time. The Minnesota Office of Traffic Safety continues to remind drivers to plan and use designated drivers or ride services to prevent tragedies on the road.
