Pennington County ( trfnews.i234.me ) – A two-vehicle crash was reported in Thief River Falls on the afternoon of Monday, September 2.

According to the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched at 2:54 p.m. to the intersection of Highway 59 and First Street. The accident involved a Ford Focus and a Ford F-150 pickup.

The report states that Mitchell Wilebski of Thief River Falls was driving a Ford Focus southbound on Highway 59 when the incident occurred. His vehicle came to a stop but then rear-ended a 2013 Ford F-150, driven by Michael Roff of Thief River Falls. Roff’s vehicle was stopped at a red light at the intersection at the time of the crash.

No injuries were reported, and both drivers remained at the scene to speak with deputies. While both vehicles sustained damage, authorities did not release details regarding the extent. Traffic was briefly slowed in the area but cleared after the vehicles were moved.

Deputies cited Wilebski for no proof of insurance. Minnesota law requires all drivers to carry valid insurance, and failure to provide proof can result in fines and additional penalties. More information about Minnesota’s insurance requirements can be found through the Minnesota Department of Commerce.

Rear-end collisions are among the most common types of crashes, often linked to distracted driving or following too closely. State traffic officials continue to remind drivers to maintain safe distances and remain alert, especially at intersections and stoplights.

The case remains under review, and no further information has been released at this time.
