Pembina County (trfnews.i234.me) – A Pembina County man is now facing serious federal charges after allegedly emailing graphic threats against multiple high-ranking officials in North Dakota.

On Friday, a federal grand jury indicted Charles Dalzell, 46, for:

  • Influencing a federal official by threat, and

  • Interstate communications with a threat to kidnap or injure.

Dalzell was initially arrested on June 16, following an email he allegedly sent to Acting U.S. Attorney Jennifer Puhl. The email referenced the recent fatal shootings of Minnesota legislators and their spouses, warning of similar violence.

The indictment states Dalzell threatened to assault, kidnap, and murder Puhl, as well as:

  • Kelly Armstrong, North Dakota Governor

  • Drew Wrigley, Attorney General

  • Judge Kari Agotness, who presided over Dalzell’s property dispute case

Dalzell, citing frustrations over a civil property dispute, accused these officials of violating the state constitution and claimed he was denied due process.

Despite requesting release to visit his dying mother in Baudette, Minnesota, a judge denied the furlough, calling Dalzell a serious public safety risk.

No further court dates have been set.
