  1. Hey man, I have a question, how do you find out about this stuff? I watch tv news yet they never seem to mention this kind of stuff that happens in small towns and just ya know random incidents. Is there an app you have or ?

  2. My father drove truck on the ice up there for years. Ice should be good enough this time of year. The odd accidents do happen. No pitchforks please. This is the way of life up there.

  3. sorry, flag island is hardly at the north end of lake of the woods…if it was, then it would be in kenora…flag island is located about the middle of the lake…perhaps, google lake of the woods and flag island…i grew up around the entire lake of the woods

  4. The date on the calender has NO BEARING on the quality of the ice! It's been warm and most of the initial freeze up this year was slush ice. With the above freezing weather and road salt that falls off the vehicles that use this ice road, and you've got rapidly deteriorating ice conditions.

  5. Back in the day, most lakes in Northern Minnesota had an old car parked on the lake out behind the local bar. Would pay a dollar to guess the date and time that it fell through the ice in the Spring. Closest guess took the pot. March 2nd seems pretty early though!

  6. Decades ago I remember a friend and I riding Honda ATC 90 and 110 three wheelers and going through the ice in early March in southeast Minnesota. You really don’t want to get soaked in coveralls when it’s 35 degrees out. We found out that the ATC’s we drove floated if you were not on them.

  7. To all the negative comments: #1 this company trucks on this lake ice all the time, not the first rodeo for them. #2 The tuck was out hours later and rock isn't hazardous cargo. # 3 Sometimes work isn't done in a cubicle, real life takes grit. # 4 Do you honestly think a metropolitan freeway is safer than the ice road?

  8. Completely ridiculous how people find a way to bring up Trudeau, Trump and Biden's name with this story and continue on with divisive politics. Give it a rest people. Sheesh!

  9. No where Near a
Flag Island… once again Neil gets it wrong on his Scanner Chaser News Network… they probaly have better things to do than talk to the Fake Newz of the North

  10. Heavy vehicles create a wave ahead when traveling at certain speeds. This fractures the ice and can result in this or worse even when the ice is very thick.
