CASS COUNTY (trfnews.i234.me) https://trfnews.i234.me ā A Park Rapids woman has been charged with gross misdemeanor failure to stop after an accident resulting in injury, following a hit-and-run incident involving a pedestrian in Cass County.
According to court documents, Shannon Marie Ocken, 54, is accused of failing to remain at the scene of a crash along Minnesota State Highway 371 near Walker.
The Minnesota State Patrol says the incident occurred when a pedestrian was struck while walking in the traffic lane. The victim suffered multiple fractures and lacerations, including injuries to the right foot and left knee, requiring medical treatment and immobilization.
Investigators located vehicle parts at the scene matching a Honda Odyssey parked at Northern Lights Casino. Authorities say the vehicle had visible damage, including a missing mirror and front-end impact. Ocken was later located inside the casino and claimed she did not hear or see the collision, noting she is deaf in one ear.
The gross misdemeanor charge carries a maximum penalty of 364 days in jail and/or a $3,000 fine.
