Park Rapids, Hubbard County (trfnews.i234.me) ā A 24-year-old man is charged after an alleged return scheme at Walmart involving computer graphics cards.
Cameron Lee Bense, 24, of Park Rapids, is charged with gross misdemeanor theft. The charge was filed in Hubbard County District Court.
What the police say happened
According to the complaint, Walmart Asset Protection reported the case to Park Rapids police on January 13, 2026.
The report focuses on an incident dated January 10, 2026. Investigators say Bense entered Walmart and bought a GeForce RTX 5060 graphics card listed at $299.
The complaint says he went out to his vehicle for a short time. It says he returned to the electronics area with the box.
Police allege he asked to upgrade to a GeForce RTX 5070 graphics card listed at $549. The complaint says he paid the difference at the counter.
Store video later showed Bense returning to a gray minivan, the complaint states. Investigators also allege a second person got out of that van.
That person was identified as Richard Fenzel, according to the complaint. Police allege Fenzel entered through the grocery entrance.
The complaint says Fenzel brought the RTX 5070 box to customer service. It says he used the original receipt and received a cash refund.
Walmart staff later checked the returned boxes, the complaint states. Police say the RTX 5060 box held an older, used card.
The serial number did not match the box, according to court records. Police also say the RTX 5070 box held two pieces of wood wrapped in plastic.
The complaint lists the total loss at $848.
