Otter Tail County (trfnews.i234.me) A 24-year-old man from Chisholm is facing a felony charge in Otter Tail County.
Nathanial James Dally was charged Friday in Otter Tail County District Court. He is charged with third-degree criminal sexual conduct. The charge carries up to 15 years in prison. It also carries a $30,000 fine.
What investigators say happened
According to the criminal complaint, investigators began looking into the case in late January. They received a report about a man from Chisholm. The report said he was having sexual contact with a 15-year-old girl.
The complaint says the two met on Snapchat. It says they messaged each other every day. It also says they shared locations using Life360.
Lake access contact
The complaint describes an encounter at a public lake access. It says a sheriff’s office sergeant contacted a parked vehicle at 12:24 a.m. on Jan. 12.
The sergeant reported seeing someone move from the back seat to the front seat. The complaint says Dally was not wearing a shirt. It also says his pants were undone. The complaint says a female was in the back seat. She was covered by a blanket.

Phone review and interview
During a forensic interview, the girl first denied sexual contact. The complaint says she later said it happened. She told investigators she felt uncomfortable sharing details at the station. She also said she did not want Dally to get in trouble.
With parental consent, detectives reviewed messages on the girl’s phone. The complaint says the messages referenced multiple incidents. It says those messages covered December 2025 through Jan. 29, 2026.
Phone seizure attempt and Dally’s statement
The complaint says law enforcement tried to secure Dally’s phone in Eveleth. An officer reported Dally appeared to be wiping data from the device.
In a phone interview on Jan. 30, Dally told detectives the girl said she was 17. When detectives told him she was 15, he said he had been lied to. The complaint says he denied being in a boyfriend-girlfriend relationship.
Dally also told investigators he planned to wait until her 18th birthday. The complaint says he admitted receiving explicit photos from the girl. It also says he claimed he did not plan sexual contact.
What happens next
Dally is in custody at the Otter Tail County Jail, according to the complaint. Court records will determine the next hearing dates.
Charges are allegations. A defendant is presumed innocent in court.
