Otter Tail County ( trfnews.i234.me ) – Authorities say a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle near New York Mills on Wednesday night.

The Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office reports the fatal crash happened just after 8:00 p.m. on October 1 along County Highway 67, in the 37,000 block, just south of New York Mills. Deputies said the crash occurred near a curve in the roadway.

According to officials, the adult victim was found unresponsive in the ditch. First responders attempted life-saving measures, but the individual was pronounced dead at the scene. The sheriff’s office said the identity of the victim has not yet been released, pending family notification.

Authorities have not released details about the driver or vehicle involved in the incident. The case remains under active investigation, and no charges or citations have been announced at this time.

Pedestrian fatalities remain a concern across Minnesota, particularly in rural areas with limited lighting and narrow shoulders. Officials urge drivers to remain alert, especially during evening hours, and for pedestrians to wear visible clothing when walking along roadways. More information on pedestrian safety is available from the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
