FARGO, N.D. (trfnews.i234.me) – Two individuals are in custody following a bizarre attempted robbery in Fargo on Friday evening. According to Fargo Police, a man was the victim of an armed robbery plot involving a woman he believed to be his online girlfriend.
The incident took place in a hotel room at the Expressway Suites on 17th Ave. S. The victim had traveled to Fargo to meet his online girlfriend, who went by the name “Riy Alexander.” As they were leaving the room to eat, a man appeared in the doorway with a handgun, demanding entry. The victim managed to push the man back and shut the door.
Believing the assailant was after his money-filled bag, the victim was then left alone as “Alexander” claimed she couldn’t handle the situation and left for her cousin’s house. During the police interview, the victim provided a phone number for “Alexander,” which was registered to Sariah Jennings, an 18-year-old from Minnesota.
On Tuesday, West Acres security informed officers that Jennings and another person involved in the attempted robbery had returned to the store they had been shopping at. Officers arrested Jennings and Jeremiah Norby, a 19-year-old Fargo resident.
Jennings and Norby were charged with conspiracy to commit armed robbery. Norby also faces charges of preventing arrest, conspiracy to manufacture or deliver marijuana, and possession of cocaine. Norby had previously been arrested for a series of burglaries in Fergus Falls last year.
Both suspects are currently held at the Cass County Jail with bail yet to be set.
