RED LAKE COUNTY (trfnews.i234.me) – An Oklee man is facing two gross misdemeanor charges after a May 29, 2025, crash involving a motorized bicycle he allegedly operated while drunk.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Red Lake County District Court, Shawn Alvin Lossing, 35, crashed a modified bicycle with a gas engine—identified as a “Phatmoto”—into a parked truck on Lambert Street in Oklee. He was found bleeding with head injuries and slurred speech, and smelling strongly of alcohol.

Lossing was transported to Sanford ER in Thief River Falls. Authorities obtained a search warrant for a blood or urine sample due to his prior DWI conviction in 2019. Despite being served the warrant, Lossing refused to comply, stating his hospitalization as the reason.

He now faces:

  • Count I: Refusing a chemical test under warrant (Gross Misdemeanor)

  • Count II: Driving while under the influence with a prior DWI (Gross Misdemeanor)

Lossing’s license was already revoked due to his prior DWI. The altered moped qualifies as a motor vehicle under Minnesota law.
