Becker County, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – A woman from Ogema, Minnesota, is facing a gross misdemeanor theft charge after attempting to steal over $670 worth of merchandise from the Walmart in Detroit Lakes on November 29, 2024.

According to the criminal complaint, Tamara Dolores Boudreau (DOB: 01/02/1974) was seen by Walmart’s Asset Protection concealing items in her coat and bag, switching price tags, and using self-checkout to underpay. After briefly entering the bathroom with the concealed items, Boudreau exited toward the pharmacy entrance and was stopped by store staff.

Detroit Lakes police officers reviewed security footage showing Boudreau stuffing items into her purse in the jewelry section. She scanned and paid only $15.75, despite taking a total of $672.51 in merchandise.

When questioned, Boudreau admitted she didn’t have enough money and had taken the items into the bathroom but left some behind after reconsidering.

She has now been formally charged with theft, which carries a maximum penalty of 364 days in jail and a $3,000 fine.
