French is charged in Becker County District Court. He faces felony fifth-degree drug possession. He also faces a gross misdemeanor DWI charge. A misdemeanor count alleges he drove after revocation.
Traffic stop in Ogema
According to court records, a Becker County deputy was on patrol after 1 a.m. on Jan. 3. The deputy reported he knew French had a revoked license. The deputy then saw French driving in Ogema.
The deputy stopped the vehicle and spoke with French. The deputy reported signs of impairment. French was asked to do field sobriety tests. Court records say he did poorly.
French was arrested on suspicion of DWI, the complaint says. A search followed the arrest, according to the records.
Items found during the search
During the search, the deputy found a cigarette pack, records say. Two small paper bindles were wedged inside. They sat between the pack and its plastic wrap.
French told the deputy the bindles held his grandmother’s medication, court records say.
The first bindle held a white, powder-like substance, according to the complaint. The substance field-tested negative for opiates. Court records did not list a final lab result.
The second bindle held four pills, the deputy reported. The pills were identified as oxycodone hydrochloride using Drugs.com’s pill tool. Authorities say oxycodone is a controlled substance.
A urine sample was collected and sent for testing, court records say. The results were not listed in the complaint.
What happens next
French’s first court appearance is set for Feb. 5. It is scheduled before District Judge Michelle W. Lawson, court records say. All charges are allegations at this stage. French is presumed innocent in court.

Right before we got pulled over we ran into winters in Audubon gas station and he was on a call there. He left his call came over to my car which percy was driving and told him that if the car left the parking lot he was pulling it over n taking percy to jail. So we left anyways n flew back to white earth we almost made it too but he got us by the cemetery right before the south proj but how he even knew percy was still driving is beyond me because it was night time its dark out you cant see whose driving at night when you pass a car well atleast i can’t
