Becker County, MNJoseph Daniel Schultz, 41, of rural Ogema, has had nine felony charges—including four counts of first-degree criminal sexual conductdismissed in Becker County District Court after his case was transferred to federal jurisdiction.

According to court records, the White Earth Police Department received a report on January 25, 2024, alleging that Schultz had sexually assaulted a juvenile under the age of 14 on multiple occasions. The investigation led to a formal indictment, initially bringing multiple felony charges against Schultz at the county level.

However, on September 12, 2024, the charges were officially dismissed after Schultz was transferred to federal custody following an indictment in U.S. District Court. The federal charges now take precedence, shifting jurisdiction away from Becker County.

Schultz remains in federal custody, awaiting further legal proceedings.
