Becker County, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – A man from Ogema, Minnesota, has been charged with gross misdemeanor DWI after law enforcement observed suspicious behavior during a search for a fugitive on April 3, 2025.
According to court documents, Chandler Thomas Hanks (DOB: 04/29/1998) was seen acting suspiciously near John Sullivan Road, possibly attempting to assist someone fleeing from police. Officer Matt Brun of the White Earth Police Department initiated a stop after observing Hanks’ vehicle repeatedly changing direction and stopping as if searching for someone along County Highway 34.
During the stop, Officer Brun noted that Hanks had bloodshot, watery eyes and smelled strongly of alcohol. Hanks admitted to drinking earlier that evening. A preliminary breath test (PBT) indicated a .25 BAC, and a later DMT test at the jail showed a .20 BAC—more than twice the legal limit.
Hanks now faces a gross misdemeanor DWI charge, which carries a maximum penalty of 364 days in jail and a $3,000 fine.
