BELCOURT, N.D. (trfnews.i234.me) —On Sunday morning, law enforcement officers from the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the Turtle Mountain Agency responded to a residence west of Belcourt on the Turtle Mountain Reservation. The response was initiated by reports of an individual armed and expressing suicidal intentions. During the intervention, shots were fired, resulting in the individual’s death at the scene.

The Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians has classified the incident as isolated. Authorities have secured the scene and confirmed no ongoing threat to public safety.
