Violet Helen “Vi” Grant, 97, of White Bear Lake, MN, formerly of Thief River Falls, MN, passed away Sunday, March 10, 2024 at Harbor Crossing in White Bear Lake, MN in the loving care of her family and Gentiva Hospice.
A Graveside Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls, MN, with Rev. Kristin Ostercamp officiating.
Vi was born April 13, 1926 in Crystal Lake, IL. She was the daughter of the late Albert and Ellen (Larson) Mortenson. She graduated from Alsen High School and attended Dakota School of Business in Fargo, ND.
Vi married Fred P. Grant on August 10, 1949 at Olivet Lutheran Church in Fargo, ND.
Fred and Vi made their home in Thief River Falls in 1951, where Vi was employed at the Union State Bank until her children were born.
Vi was a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church, serving in many capacities. She loved playing bridge and enjoyed walks and coffee with friends. Most of all Vi was the consummate wife and mother, always putting the needs of her family first. For this we are all forever grateful.
Vi is survived by her loving husband of 74 years, Fred, as well as her children, Jean (Mark) Haugland, The Woodlands, TX, Joy (Scott) Reed, North Oaks, MN and James of Thief River Falls. Also surviving her are her grandchildren Sarah (Dan) Langness, Kelly Reed, Julian Grant and Alexander Grant and great-grandchildren Mathias, Malachi and Marcus Langness and Stella Lee. Her sister, Audrey Osborn, Federal Way, WA also survives.
