Sylvia Ann Bengtson passed away on Monday, September 12th, 2022 at Sanford Medical Center, Thief River Falls, MN.
Sylvia Ann Bengtson was born in Fairmont, Minnesota on March 14, 1932, to Hillary William Peterson and Vera Amelia Lucas. “Sliver”, as she was known by friends and family alike, worked most of her adult life as a waitress in Karlstad, Minnesota.
She married Harry Rudolph Bengtson on May 5th, 1951, at the Baptist Church in Karlstad, Minnesota. During their time together they raised five children and were married for 53 years prior to his passing in 2004.
Sliver loved to host any and all special occasions and holidays, cooking for friends and relatives brought her great joy. It was amazing how she could whip up a dinner or a supper, including dessert and coffee, with just a moments notice! Sliver loved music – it was well known she would drive more than a few miles to listen to the local singers and musicians performing at the various churches and festivals in the area. Over the years, she often visited her children and grandchildren in Utah, Colorado, Arizona, and Idaho and was always up for an adventure.
She is survived by her five children: Harlan (Green Valley, AZ); Ron (Phoenix AZ), Byron (Thief River Falls, MN); Cyndi (Erie, CO), and Vera (Bountiful, UT); one brother Jim (Elbow Lake, MN); 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry and her parents, Hillary & Vera Peterson; three brothers, Donald (Jack), LuVerne, Hillary Jr. (Tip), and one grandson, Nicholas.
She will truly be missed by all those who knew and loved her.

A Memorial service will be held at 11:00AM, Saturday, September 24, 2022 at the Karlstad Baptist Church.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to services.
Internment services will be held at the Karlstad City Cemetery.
