Scott David Schmidt, 65, of Red Lake Falls, MN passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2019, at Hillcrest Senior Living in Red Lake Falls, MN.
Scott David Schmidt was born July 27, 1954, in Minot, Ward County, ND the son of Bernardine Pauline Benedictine Schmidt. He attended St Joseph grade school and graduated from Lafayette High School in 1973. Scott then attended Northland Technical School in TRF for accounting. Scott’s father was Clinton C Mcdougall, but he was not involved in Scott’s life. A few years before Scott’s passing, Scott was able to meet his father who was residing at the Nursing Home in Thief River Falls.
Scott worked a number of jobs over his career including spending working in a Cotton Gin Mill in Parker Arizona; North-star Silo Company in Red Lake Falls, and Hydra-Mac Inc. In Thief River Falls.
Scott dealt with more than his fair share of health issues throughout his life and eventually lost his mobility in later years. When that happened, he resided for several years at Oak Park Nursing Home in Thief River Falls before moving to Hillcrest Senior Living and Hospice in Red Lake Falls. Scott eventually died from complications of prostate cancer and diabetes. Scott really appreciated the care he received from the staff at Hillcrest Senior Living and Hospice.
Scott will be remembered as a positive soul who always looked for the good in people and things. His saying was “Go for it”. He enjoyed getting around in his powered wheelchair and going over to Eagle Square for snacks. He enjoyed leather tooling, playing cards, and visiting with friends. Scott was an enthusiastic financial supporter of Pepsi, as that was his go-to drink.
He is preceded in death by his mother Bernardine Pauline Schmidt (2018), Clinton C Mcdougall (2019).
A private burial service was held in his honor. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Red River Valley.
