Ronald Irelan, 70, of St. Hilaire, MN, passed away on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at Sanford Medical Center.
Celebration of Life and visitation will be held on Friday, December 10, 2021 from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN. Military honors will be held at 12:00 PM at the funeral home.
Ronald David Irelan was born June 28, 1951 in the Bronx, NY the son Wilbur Russell and Leola (Zachgo) Irelan. He was baptized in the Methodist Church. Ron graduated from Metuchen High School in Metuchen, NJ with the class of 1969.
Following school, Ron entered into service with the United States Army. He worked as a mechanic and was Honorably Discharged.
Ron was the proud father of Sundance, Carrie, William, Timothy and Gene.
Ron was a very avid traveler. He worked as a mechanic in different areas of the United States, from New York to Washington, and many places in between. Ron settled in Goodridge, MN in the late 1980’s. He worked for many years Northern Pride until his retirement. Ron also worked a few years at Arctic Cat.
He enjoyed singing and playing guitar, telling stories (he had a laugh like no other, it was very infectious) and especially enjoyed reading. In his younger years, he loved riding his motorcycle. Ron had a wonderful collection of books that he was always willing to lend to his family and friends. His door was always open, he was always willing to help people because he was a very good handyman, and to those who knew him, Ron had a heart of gold.
Ron was a member of the Ecklund-Holmstrom American Legion Post 114 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2793.
Survivors include his children, Sundance (Jon) Oary, Carrie Jensen, William Duquaine, Timothy (Ashley) Irelan and Gene Irelan; grandchildren, Corey Sybert, Brandi Jensen, Tyler Jensen, Austin Jensen, Samantha Oary, Peyton Jensen, Maddex Irelan, Zalyha Addison; life partner, Nadine Haugen and her children, Dustin (Melissa) Kopecky, Josh Kopecky, Sarah (Aaron) Marty and Serena (Jeff) Zbacnik; bonus grandkids, Santana, Calvin, Arthur, Keegan, Dakota; and many other relatives and friends.
He is preceded by his parents; brothers, Kenny and Wayne; and sister, Bonnie.
