Roger Novak, 79, of Thief River Falls, MN passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at Thief River Care Center.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at Obit in Thief River Falls, MN with Father Rick Lambert officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Red Lake Falls, MN.
Roger Edward Novak was born on June 28, 1945, to Edward and Elsie (Vanek) Novak in Warren, Minnesota. He spent his early years attending school in Warren before continuing his education in St. Hilaire and Thief River Falls until the age of 16.
Roger worked for various farmers in the area before joining Crane Plumbing and Heating in Crookston. He later moved to Thief River Falls, where he continued working in agriculture. In the late 1990s, he began working at Hugo’s, where he remained a dedicated employee until September 2024.
Roger found joy in helping others, particularly through mowing lawns and clearing snow for neighbors and friends. His generosity and willingness to lend a hand left a lasting impact on those around him.
He is survived by his siblings, Shirley Novak of Thief River Falls and Gary (Arlene) Novak of St. Hilaire; nephew, Garrett (Andrea) Novak; niece, Jennifer (David) Nelson; great-nieces, Natalie, Miranda, Aliyah, and Bristol Novak and Julia Nelson; great-nephew, Dawson Nelson; as well as many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Elsie Novak, along with numerous other relatives and friends.
Roger will be remembered for his smiling face at Hugo’s and his dedication to helping his friends. May his memory be blessed.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Red River Valley Hospice.
