Robert Brown of Thief River Falls, MN, passed away on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at his home.

A Memorial Service in honor of Robb will be held at 4:00 PM on Monday, April 26, 2021 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN, with Rev. Kristin Ostercamp officiating.  Burial will follow at the
Poplar Grove Cemetery, rural Goodridge, MN.

Visitation will take place one hour prior to the memorial service on Monday at the funeral home.

Robert Michael Brown was born on February 16, 1957 in Minneapolis, MN, the son of Sidney Robert and Alice Marian (Erickson) Brown.  He was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith.  Robb graduated from Orono High School in 1975.  He attended Bemidji Technical College for carpentry and later graduated from Bemidji State University with his teaching degree.  Robb received his Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Moorhead State University.

Robb was married to Ruth Vaughn and to this union three children were born:  Sarah, Erica, and Benjamin. 

On October 13, 2001 Robb was united in marriage to Linda Kiesow Brandt at Ekelund Lutheran Church in rural Goodridge, MN.  With this marriage he became a step-father to Mandy, Becky, and Katy.

Robb was an industrial arts teacher in Goodridge, MN, from 1985 until his retirement in 2013.  While teaching he also coached basketball and was the athletic director for the Goodridge High School.  After his retirement he drove bus for the Thief River Falls School District.  He also spent many summers working at the Bluewater Bible Camp near Grand Rapids.  Robb also enjoyed part-time jobs driving bus for Tri-Valley, working concessions at the Ralph Engelstad Arena, and helping Morris and Peter Grosz with harvest on their farm.  In all of these jobs Robb made many lifetime friends whom he treasured.

Robb enjoyed being at the cabin where he hunted, fished, rode 4-wheeler, played cards, and spent time with his grandchildren.  Robb taught his children and grandchildren many sayings while fishing such as, “Fish away” and “Don’t look, don’t listen!”  After retirement Robb enjoyed vacationing with Linda to Las Vegas, Florida, and Nashville.  He also spent a lot of time watching and attending Twins and Vikings games.

Robb is survived by his loving wife, Linda of Thief River Falls, MN; children, Sarah Brown of Osseo, MN, Erica (Eric) Kukachka of Blaine, MN, Benjamin (Laura) Brown of Blaine, MN; step-children, Mandy (Jason) Schuster of Thief River Falls, MN, Becky (Erik) Holter of Moorhead, MN, and Katy Brandt of East Grand Forks, MN; grandchildren, Sawyer, Olivia, Claire, Rylee, Coen, Declan, Kennedy, Cooper, and Brooks; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charlie and Louann Kiesow of Goodridge, MN; brothers-in-law, Steve Kiesow, Alan (Tami) Kiesow, and Tony (Nickie) Kiesow; godson and nephew, Hunter Kiesow; nieces and nephews, Alec Kiesow, Lexi Kiesow, and Kayla Kiesow.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Alison Brown.
