Robert “Bob” Homme, 76 of Goodridge, MN passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at Sanford Medical Center in Bemidji, MN with his loving family by his side. He never gave up fighting!
Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM with a 4:30 PM prayer service on Sunday, April 27, 2025 at Obit in Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will also begin at 10:00 AM with the service to celebrate Bob’s life at 11:00 AM on Monday, April 28, 2025 at Faith Lutheran Church in Goodridge, MN with Rev. Kris Snyder officiating. Burial will be at 1:30 PM at Bethany Cemetery, Smiley Township, Thief River Falls, MN with military honors provided by VFW Post 2793, American Legion Post 117 and Minnesota Army National Guard Honor Guard.
Robert Clair Homme was born September 29, 1948, the son of Obert and Ann (Nessen) Homme in Thief River Falls, MN. He was baptized and confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church, rural Thief River Falls. He attended school in Thief River Falls graduating from Lincoln High School with the class of 1966.
Following high school, Bob entered into service with the United States Army. He was stationed in Korea as a Military Police Officer. He was Honorably Discharged and returned to live in Thief River Falls where he attended Northland Community College and work on the Homme Family Farm.
On April 10, 1971, Bob was united in marriage to Karen Malterud in Becida, MN. The couple met while working at Arctic Cat and were married for 25 years. To this union two children were born, Janelle and Jason.
After Arctic Cat closed in the early 1980’s, Bob went to work for Cenex in Thief River Falls and Goodridge where he drove trucks and managed the fertilizer plant. Following his retirement at Cenex, Bob went to work for Solberg Farms for a few years and for Dale Anderson Farms for a short time. He enjoyed his field work very much.
Bob enjoyed “going south” to the casino, going to the café every morning, visiting with family and friends, and he especially loved calling and spending time with his children and grandchildren. In his early years, Bob enjoyed fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, and camping.
He was a member of the Goodridge Lutheran Parish, VFW Post 2793, American Legion Post 117, Goodridge Veterans Memorial Committee, and Goodridge Area Development. Bob served as Mayor of the city of Goodridge, MN for many years. He lost his title on a coin flip.
Bob was a big man with a big personality to match.
Survivors include his daughter, Janelle (Norman) Larson of Bemidji, MN; son, Jason (Amber) Homme of Goodridge, MN; grandchildren, Brandon (Karlie) Larson, Morgan (Ryan) Fisher, Travis (Hannah) Larson, Payton Homme and Braxton Homme; great-grandchildren, Boden, William, Josephine, and Jeremiah; siblings, Orlen (Kathy) Homme, Alan “Bud” (Linda) Homme; and many other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Steve and Chet; nephew, Chad Homme; and great-nephew, Zachary Homme.
