Ralph served in the United States Army from November 8, 1954 until his Honorable Discharge on September 12, 1956. He earned the rank of Private First Class. Ralph spent much of his army career in Germany building roads and bridges.

Following his military duty, Ralph worked as a lumberjack in Montana where he met his future wife. On January 26, 1962, Ralph was united in marriage to Doris May Kellison at her parent’s house in Billings, MT. They lived in Billings for a short time where Ralph worked on ranch. They moved to Euclid, MN in 1962 where he started working for Strickler Farms in Angus, MN. In the early 1970’s the family made their home on the Vern Hagen Ranch three miles south of Marcoux Corner where he worked for over twenty years. After Vern Hagen passed away, the property was sold to Tilden Farms where Ralph continued to work until his retirement.

When Ralph got tired of remodeling his house and decided retirement was not for him, he continued to work various jobs in the area including Seven Clans Casino, K-mart, and Homark Homes.

Ralph and Doris enjoyed traveling back to Montana on occasion and enjoyed driving through the countryside visiting different casinos. He enjoyed working on his yard, taking care of his home and his puppies. Ralph had a love for his family and friends that was beyond anything and cherished time spent together.

He was the most soft-spoken, gentle and kind man with an amazing smile that could light up a room and an amazing sense of humor, fluent in sarcasm with a hint of mischief in his eyes. He will be deeply missed by all that knew him.
