Paul A. Tandberg, 63, of Cummings, North Dakota, died on Sunday, April 9, 2023, at his home.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Buxton, North Dakota.  A time of visitation will begin at 10:00.  Urn burial will be held later this spring at Bethlehem Cemetery in McHenry, North Dakota.

Paul was born on May 13, 1959, in Denver, Colorado to Carl and Martha (Vanderhoof) Tandberg.  He was raised and received his education in Aurora, Colorado where he graduated in 1978 from Aurora Central High School.  Paul then went on to trade school for diesel mechanics.  He began his career in the Denver Metro area before moving to Grand Junction where he worked for Cummins Engines. 

In 1987, Paul met Joy Anderson.  Paul and Joy stayed in touch over the years and reconnected in 2004.  On September 30, 2006, Paul and Joy were united in marriage in Greeley, Colorado.  The couple lived in Greeley and Ft. Collins, Colorado before moving to Cummings, North Dakota in June of 2018.  Soon after, Paul began working for the State of North Dakota as an equipment operator.  He was honored as the Employee of the Year for the Fargo region in 2020.

Paul loved motorcycles.  As soon as he was 18, he purchased his first bike and continued riding for the remainder of his life.  He was a member of the Greeley Harley Owners Group, as well as a very active member of the Northern Colorado Honor Flight escorts.  He also built and flew radio-controlled planes, and enjoyed gardening and spending time with family and friends.

Paul is survived by his wife, Joy; a sister, Karen McMahon of Aurora, CO; mother-in-law, Caroline Anderson of Devils Lake, ND; sisters-in-law, Margie (Joe) Moya of Sharon, ND,  Cathy (Mark) Hyams of Denver, CO,  Amy Anderson of Fargo, ND, and Rachel Anderson of New Rockford, ND; brothers-in-law, Jim (Phyllis) Anderson of Standardsville, VA, and Duane Anderson of Valley City, ND; an aunt, Carol (Jerry) Sand of McVille, ND and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law, Clinton Anderson; and brothers-in-law Randy McMahon and Dennis Anderson.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to: TEARS (Together we Educate About the Realities of Suicide) or Central Valley Parish.
