Myrtle Lee, 91, of Thief River Falls, MN passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at Hillcrest Senior Living in Red Lake Falls, MN.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 24, 2024 at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Reverend Kristin Ostercamp officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be held at Northwood Cemetery, Grygla, MN.
Myrtle Elie Jelle was born October 16, 1933 near Grygla, MN to Edward and Olufine (Dalen) Jelle. She attended country school through 8th grade and then she attended Lincoln High School, graduating with the class of 1951.
Myrtle went to normal training after high school in Thief River Falls, MN. She taught one year at a country school near Goodridge. On June 20, 1953, Myrtle was united in marriage to Harland Lyle Lee at Our Savior’s Church near Grygla, MN. The couple welcomed four children, David, Lynn, Laurel, and Peter.
Myrtle worked as a bookkeeper in the hospital medical records and the public health nursing for many years. She went on to work at Digi-Key before retiring in 2003.
Myrtle enjoyed gardening, crocheting, dancing, reading, and crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed baking overnight buns and her oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. She was very active at church.
Myrtle is survived by her children, David (Diane) Lee of Thief River Falls, Laurel (Loren) Hed of Menagha, and Peter (Karin) Lee of Marshall; grandchildren, Tiffany Sterry, Ryan Lee, Joshua (Tami) Hed, Daniel (Melinda) Hed, Melinda (Adam) Wisch, Anthony (Katie) Lee, Jesse (Clarissa) Lee, Bethany (Duncan) Sullivan, and Wendy (Kennedy) Gilbertson; great-grandchildren, Olivia, Jazmyn, Emily, Molly, Ben, Hunter, Joseph, Elijah, Ellie, Isabel, Jasmine, Elliott, Liam, Aurora, Magnolia, Theodore, Arley, Sophia, Truman, Oscar, Josiah, Jedidiah, and Dorothea; one great-great grandchild on the way; sister-in-law, Bev Jelle; many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Myrtle is preceded by her husband, Harland; son, Lynn; parents; siblings, Erwin Jelle, Judy (Ernie) Ridlon, Melvin Jelle, Ray Jelle, Julius Jelle, Alma (Theodore) trfnews.i234.me, Russell (June) Jelle, and Robert (Joyce) Jelle.
